The name Huixtitla comes from Nahuatl, an ancient Indigenous language of central Mexico. It is derived from “huitz-tli” meaning thorn or spine, and “-tla” meaning place of. Together, Huixtitla can be interpreted as “Place of Thorns”—a name that reflects the rugged landscape, native vegetation, and the resilience required to live in harmony with the land.
